An initial project called DETOUR (Discover Europe Through Opportunities Using Rail) was submitted in February 2025. Following the enthusiasm of local organisations for this project and their numerous requests to send their beneficiaries on trips, we decided to resubmit a project that builds on the first one, with a few adjustments. The DETOUR #2 project has a similar name and structure to the DETOUR project, as we hope to maintain the enthusiasm of youth organisations in local neighbourhoods and areas. We want to be able to respond as many requests as possible in order to reach as many organisations and young people as we can, which has been difficult to do until now. DETOUR #2: Discover Europe Through Opportunities Using Rail is therefore a project aimed at young people who have little or no access to European mobility. Going abroad is a unique experience that can transform the lives of those who benefit from it. However, Parcours le Monde's experience in supporting young people with fewer opportunities has shown that not all of them are ready to engage in projects such as those offered by Erasmus+ or the ESC. For some young people, who have never left their neighbourhood, village or family, the idea of going abroad alone, without a familiar face, is a major obstacle. Indeed, for the most vulnerable groups, going abroad without support is unthinkable. In light of this, we have decided to submit a new project as part of the Discover Eu-Inclusion programme. Since our creation, we have been working with local social and youth organisations and would like to take this opportunity to offer them a 7-day train mobility project. On this DETOUR #2 project, a single accompany person will be responsible for a group of four young people, and this mobility will be co-organised with the young participants, their accompany person and Parcours le Monde. The objectives of this project are as follows: - To strengthen the skills of young people and professionals: Involve young people and professionals from the start of the project, from choosing the destination and itinerary to booking transport, accommodation, budget management, guidance, etc. - Offer a first experience of European mobility to the most disadvantaged young people: Target our main audience, namely young people who are furthest from mobility, and enable them to open up to Europe, gain independence and discover interculturality. - Promote European mobility within youth structures: Develop a culture of mobility within organisations that support young people with fewer opportunities. In this project, we plan to programme eight activities; each activity will involve the mobility of four young people and one accompanying adult and will last an average of seven days.
