With this project, we want to enable young people from Guadeloupe with fewer opportunities to access, for the very first time, a European mobility. For many of them, travelling remains a distant dream due to social, economic, geographic, or family constraints. The main objective is therefore to transform this first step in Europe into an educational and inclusive experience that strengthens their competences and confidence. From the perspective of youth work practice, our objectives are: To develop young people’s autonomy and self-confidence By supporting young people who are not used to travelling, we provide them with a safe framework, with tutors and peers, helping them to step outside of their comfort zone. To promote active participation and non-formal learning Young people will choose themselves the themes explored during the mobility, so that the experience truly reflects their interests, dreams, and needs. To foster social inclusion through mobility We want to show that even young people from fragile backgrounds or with disabilities can take an active role in their own project, share their skills, and feel equal to their European peers. To strengthen European awareness and intercultural openness Participants will discover Europe not as an abstract idea but as a lived reality, by meeting other young people, organisations, and communities in different countries. To create a stepping stone towards other forms of mobility DiscoverEU will serve as a first step: after this experience, young people will be better prepared to join youth exchanges, ESC projects, or other international initiatives.
