Objectives

The project arises from the need to provide a travel and training opportunity for young people living in rural and disadvantaged areas, with a particular focus on young people belonging to the LGBTQI+ community or those discriminated against due to sexual orientation or gender identity, opportunity they otherwise would not have access to. In these areas, often characterized by a lack of moments, and initiatives aimed at socialization and the dissemination of culture, young people often find themselves isolated, with few opportunities for exchange and personal growth. The sense of exclusion is even more pronounced for queer youth, who, due to social and cultural prejudices, may be further marginalized. The isolation of many young people is exacerbated by a lack of awareness of their European citizenship, which is also reflected in their unfamiliarity with the opportunities offered by the European Union, particularly programs like Erasmus+ and DiscoverEU. The main objective is to provide these young people with the opportunity to participate in an educational journey that not only increases their knowledge of Europe and its values but also allows them to experience activities related to diversity and inclusion in the queer community. The project focuses on queer topics, organizing a travel itinerary through European cities that host LGBTQI+ events, such as major European city Pride events and queer festivals. Through this journey, participants will not only explore new places but also actively engage in discussions and reflections on crucial issues like human rights, equality, and the acceptance of diversity. Another fundamental goal of the project is to promote the development of transversal skills such as intercultural, linguistic, social, and organizational skills. Participants will have the opportunity to develop greater self-awareness while improving their ability to interact and engage in international contexts, organize experiences and participate in project creation and organization, even in collaboration with other young people. The travel experience is an innovative learning process that will help participants to grow both personally and educationally. In this way, the project aims to create more aware, participative, and inclusive European citizens. The project aims to reduce the social exclusion of young people with fewer opportunities by offering them access to social and educational experiences that go beyond their daily lives, allowing them to engage with different realities and develop useful skills for their personal and professional lives. Achieving this objective will enable the active participation of young people in initiatives in their territories and other European initiatives. During the trip, participants will also have the chance to engage with different cultures and participate in events linked to the queer community, such as Pride events, exhibitions, and festivals. These experiences will foster the development of intercultural competencies, helping young people understand and respect cultural and social differences and explore their own identities in safe environments. This type of experience can promote a deeper understanding of diversity, and increased self-confidence and comfort within their communities. The project aims to promote the core values of the European Union, such as inclusion, equality, and solidarity. Through personal participation in LGBTQI+ events and interactions with young people from various parts of Europe, participants will better understand the value of diversity and social inclusion.
