Promoting Peace Through Intercultural Competencies (Intercultural Competencies) is a training course that will take place in Malta in 2026. The aim of the training course is to bring together 32 youth workers from 8 European nations who are active in their respective local youth sector organizations. These individuals actively foster cross-cultural awareness and diversity as the foundation of peace in modern, multicultural societies across the EU. The project promoting diversity & inclusion through intercultural competencies focuses on promoting multi-cultural education alongside peacebuilding, tolerance, and inclusion. It aims to exchange best practices for peaceful and non-violent social action to improve youth work. Project participants work daily with vulnerable and socially marginalized multi-ethnic youth groups in their communities. Throughout the project, a group of 32 participants will meet to discuss and exchange good practices of non-violent social action in their communities. The training will help them improve awareness, skills, and competencies on subjects such as gender, multiculturalism, and related issues. Additionally, by meeting peacebuilding practitioners and developing roadmaps for follow-up initiatives, the impact of the project will be strengthened. An integral component of the project will be the experience of non-formal education, with a special focus on understanding gender perspectives. Throughout the project, experiential learning will be the primary approach. The participants will follow a loop of experiential learning: concrete experience - reflective observation - abstract conceptualization - active experimentation. This cycle will help them directly engage with multinational peer groups and apply the competencies acquired in the project to their everyday work with young people and vulnerable groups. Practical and theoretical insights into the subjects will be communicated and discussed through workshops, creative plenary sessions, and tutorials, with the assistance of trainers and invited experts. There will also be a continuous contribution and exchange of experience among participants. The training will include informal educational tools such as meta-plans, discussions, peer learning, mind maps, participant presentations, open sessions, seminars, brainstorming, role-plays, exercises, and simulations. The training course will address the following topics: Youth Work, Inclusion, Tolerance, Human Rights, Community Engagement, Cultural Dialogue, Peacebuilding, and Multiculturalism. By bringing together youth workers from different states in a program of activities, and dedicating portions of the program to elaborating future Erasmus+ initiatives, the project will promote cross-EU understanding among young people. As a result, further projects will help develop the capacity of youth work funding schemes. The collaboration between partner organizations will enhance the capacity of civil society organizations (CSOs) within the youth sector. The main objectives of this project are to: -Raise awareness of intercultural communication topics -Share skills and expertise in negotiating in diverse cultural contexts, whether locally or at the European stage -Explore efficient solutions for resolving disputes in the area of intercultural isolation and empower participants to take appropriate actions -Promote the meaningful involvement of young people in civil society -Develop an understanding of efficient discourse and multiculturalism -Familiarize participants with peacebuilding principles and the importance of non-violent resistance to conflicts -Develop positive perceptions of non-formal learning, empowering participants with skills in event preparation, peacebuilding activities, etc. -Create new learning-by-doing tools for the project -Share good practices and learnings in non-violent action This project addresses the following Erasmus+ program priorities within the youth field: -Competence building for youth workers -Stimulating improvements in the quality of youth work -Enhancing the international aspects of youth work
