“Understanding Greenwashing for Youth Work” builds on our Sustainability Series Trainings, started by successfully implementing our Erasmus+ project Green Shift: Promoting Sustainable Lifestyles and Practices among Young People. Drawing on the collaborative trust and shared methodologies of eight partner organisations that started the partnership, this initiative will engage 26 youth workers, aged 18-45, in two sequential mobilities—Malta (21–27 May 2026) and Estonia (26–30 August 2026). In Malta, participants will master the theory and practice of greenwashing through interactive media-literacy workshops, fact-checking skills trainings, company case-study analyses, ethical role-plays and creative expression labs. They will learn to deconstruct misleading adverts and social-media campaigns, debate environmental justice, and co-design digital storytelling tools. In Estonia, the focus shifts to hands-on application: conducting DIY brand audits in local communities, prototyping both mock greenwashing and authentic activist campaigns, visiting best-practice sustainability sites, and producing zines, posters and toolkits for public dissemination. All activities are framed by non-formal methods—peer learning, simulations, intercultural exchanges and Youthpass reflections—to ensure practical transferability. The project aims to: 1. Equip youth workers with robust competences in critical media analysis, digital storytelling, campaign design and field research, validated through Youthpass certificates. 2. Empower them to guide young people towards informed, ethical and action-oriented sustainability initiatives, countering misinformation and rebuilding trust in genuine environmental efforts. 3. Embed co-created resources and participatory methodologies into each organisation’s regular youth-work portfolio, driving innovation and quality improvement at local, national and European levels. 4. Sustain a transnational community of practice—via follow-up peer mentoring, online roundtables and joint dissemination—to scale up anti-greenwashing youth work and amplify authentic climate advocacy across Europe.
