Objectives

The project aims to empower young people with fewer opportunities through two complementary DiscoverEU mobilities, designed on the basis of non-formal education and youth work practice principles. First mobility: young people from rural areas, with low economic resources or cognitive difficulties but without disabilities, will act as a pilot group. They will test accessibility and safety of the routes, gaining critical observation skills, systematic recording competences, and reflective learning, while taking an active role as co-researchers and peer leaders. Second mobility: young people with disabilities (cerebral palsy with 60% and 86% incapacity) supported by trained assistants will experience the validated itinerary. In this phase, youth work practice will focus on enabling full participation, promoting assisted autonomy, peer-to-peer cooperation, and individual empowerment. Specific objectives of the project (from a youth work practice perspective): Promote real inclusion :create accessible itineraries that remove physical, social and economic barriers, placing young people at the center of decision-making. Develop transversal competences :autonomy, resilience, intercultural communication, teamwork, resource management, and active European citizenship. Foster experiential learning :through non-formal education methods such as role-play, simulations, reflective diaries, and peer-to-peer learning. Strengthen the link between young people and families :involving families throughout the process to increase trust and acceptance of international mobility. Create replicable good practice models :to be used by other organisations and future DiscoverEU groups. What results do you expect your project to have? Direct empowerment of at least 10 young people with fewer opportunities, including those with disabilities, to travel in an autonomous, safe and inclusive way. Development of key competences, validated through Youthpass, aligned with the European Key Competences Framework for Lifelong Learning. Changed attitudes among families, increasing their trust in young people’s participation in international experiences. Production and dissemination of a DiscoverEU Inclusive Itinerary Guide, including tested routes, practical recommendations, and innovative solutions for sustainable mobility. Creation of a local network of young leaders, ready to support and inspire other young people in future mobilities. Contribution to reducing inequalities in access to Erasmus+ opportunities, reinforcing the programme’s priorities of inclusion, diversity, and active participation.
