This DiscoverEU Inclusion project aims to offer a first international learning experience to 5 young people aged 18 with fewer opportunities, combining personal development, urban exploration and European values through a 21-day train journey across 5 EU countries. The journey is not just a travel experience, but a non-formal educational path, focused on increasing key competences, digital creativity and civic awareness in a sustainable, inclusive and accessible way. The central ambition is to transform green public transportation into both a physical and symbolic vehicle for learning, equity and connection. By travelling across Europe by train and moving within cities using trams, metros, and buses, participants will reflect on urban sustainability, climate responsibility and public transport as a space of citizenship: a place that connects people, cultures and stories. They will learn to navigate unfamiliar environments, interact with diverse communities and reflect on how infrastructure reflects the values of a society. The project also supports digital education and creative expression: participants will document their learning, emotions and discoveries through visual storytelling (videos, reels, posts), developing digital competences and the ability to express personal and civic messages online in ways that engage peers. This is aligned with the European Year of Digital Citizenship 2025, encouraging responsible and empowered digital participation. Asociatia Tramvaiul 21 will integrate emotional literacy, reflection and mentoring throughout the project. Through guided sessions using the TRAIN method (Transportul Rezultatelor Atinse Informal si Non-formal), participants will reflect on their competences across the 8 Youthpass areas, mapping their growth and deepening their self-awareness. The 4 key objectives of the project are: 1.To support 5 young people with fewer opportunities in accessing their first long-term European mobility, enhancing their personal and professional development through experiential learning and increased access to EU opportunities. 2. To improve participants’ digital competences, especially in content creation and communication on social platforms, with a focus on using digital tools for civic expression, visibility, and inclusion. 3. To increase the operational capacity of Asociatia Tramvaiul 21, by coordinating all phases of a complex mobility project, mentoring a vulnerable group, and integrating evaluation, visibility, and follow-up processes. 4. To raise awareness among participants and communities about sustainable transport and the role of public mobility (tram, metro, train) in promoting equity, ecological responsibility, and European connection—making the experience a seed for more green mobilities in the future. Through this project, mobility becomes not only a mode of transport, but a tool for learning, empowerment, and participation in the European community.
