Objectives

In the context of limited access to quality information for young people in Romania and the lack of a formal environment to develop media literacy skills, this project aims to enhance the journalistic abilities of young participants from vulnerable backgrounds. Through a practical journey to four European countries, the participants will gain an understanding of the principles and mechanisms behind a newsroom. Identified Needs: 1. Given the low percentage of young people in the country who fact-check information they encounter online and their tendency to believe sensational news or conspiracy theories due to a lack of critical news analysis skills, there is a pressing need to foster critical thinking and accountability in processing information. 2. The limited involvement of young people in democratic life and their lack of opportunities to travel abroad to better understand the European Union and its diversity are becoming increasingly problematic in today's radicalized socio-political environment. 3. There is a need for environments where young people can apply their knowledge and skills to actively contribute to spreading high-quality information and fostering digital responsibility beyond the immediate group involved in the project. Objectives: 1. Develop media literacy and digital skills for 10 young people aged 18–21 from southeastern Romania through applied workshops focusing on critical information analysis. These workshops will equip participants to use social media and online news platforms responsibly and consciously. 2. Encourage proactive attitudes toward democratic participation among 10 young people aged 18–21 by organizing a journey to four European countries. The aim is to practice the roles of reporters and journalists, document best practices, and understand the importance of diversity and the European Union's role in citizens' lives. 3. Integrate 10 young participants into the editorial team of Politicall.ro after the journey, enabling them to actively contribute to creating quality content for their peers. By using the knowledge gained, they will produce geopolitical articles and support their personal and professional development.
