The Be Prepared! project aims to enhance the capacity of youth workers to respond effectively and confidently in emergency situations, both physical and emotional, thereby increasing the safety, preparedness, and resilience of the young people they work with. From the perspective of youth work practice, our key objectives are: 1. Equip youth workers with practical emergency response skills, including basic and advanced first aid, evacuation planning, and disaster risk assessment, enabling them to act as first responders within their youth communities. 2. Develop emotional resilience and psychological first aid competences, so youth workers can support young people during crises, manage panic or trauma, and promote mental wellbeing in times of stress or instability. 3. Strengthen youth workers’ leadership in promoting a culture of safety and preparedness through the ability to organize local awareness-raising activities, safety drills, and community workshops tailored to their youth groups. 4. Foster a multiplier effect, empowering trained youth workers to share their knowledge and skills with young people, peers, and local organizations through structured follow-up actions and a multilingual training toolkit. 5. Promote solidarity, active citizenship, and cross-border cooperation by enabling youth workers from different countries to share best practices and develop a common framework for disaster preparedness in youth work settings.
