With MYTHIC, we aim to “empower those who empower youth”. In other words, the project’s purpose is to strengthen youth work practice by equipping youth workers with the skills and tools they need to better support young people. These objectives were identified through a needs analysis by the youth workers themselves, ensuring the project focuses on real gaps in daily youth work. Specifically, MYTHIC has three core objectives: - Inclusive Innovation: To empower youth workers with creative and inclusive innovation skills. We want participants to be able to design and adapt innovative activities that engage all young people – including those with fewer opportunities or from marginalised backgrounds – in entrepreneurial and problem-solving projects. By the end of the project, each national team of youth workers will have co-created a toolkit of new activities that they can use and share in their local communities. - Critical Thinking and Media Literacy: To boost youth workers’ capacity for critical thinking and media literacy, so they can in turn teach these crucial skills to young people. Youth workers will learn methods to help youngsters analyse information critically, recognise misinformation or bias, and navigate today’s digital media landscape safely. This will enable them to run workshops or discussions that improve young people’s ability to think critically and fact-check information. - Civic Engagement: To encourage a stronger culture of civic engagement in youth work. The project will equip youth workers to inspire and support young people in leading community initiatives and participating actively in society. Through MYTHIC, participants will practice ways to foster youth-led projects (for example, volunteer actions or local campaigns) and learn how to guide young people in turning their ideas into concrete community activities. By achieving these objectives, MYTHIC will improve the quality and innovation of youth work across all eight partner organisations. From the perspective of daily youth work, this means youth workers will gain practical, ready-to-use tools and greater confidence to tackle issues like social inclusion, digital misinformation, and youth apathy. Ultimately, the project strives to empower youth workers to help more young people – especially those from disadvantaged or rural areas – become enterprising, critically aware, and engaged citizens. This directly contributes to a more inclusive, innovative, and democratic youth sector in line with European youth priorities.
