Objectives

As the Young Thought Association, with this project, we will ensure that young people with fewer opportunities experience a safe and supported DiscoverEU experience, permanently strengthening their independent travel, intercultural communication, and self-efficacy skills. During the 21-day mobility, we will offer step-by-step learning experiences guided by our companions, aiming to help young people establish a concrete connection to European citizenship and shared values. From a youth work perspective, we will base our project on experiential learning, peer learning, and mentoring. We will provide pre-mobility preparation training (intercultural awareness, safety, basic language support, and rights) and make learning visible throughout the journey through daily reflection sessions, small tasks, and community contacts. At the end of the process, we will document the competencies acquired with a Youthpass. The main objectives of our project will be clear: (1) We will develop young people's independent travel planning and problem-solving skills. (2) We will raise awareness of intercultural dialogue and European values. (3) We will strengthen inclusiveness and ensure gender balance and safe participation. (4) We will empower young people to become productive by supporting digital storytelling and media literacy. (5) We will transform sustainable behaviors (public transportation, waste reduction, plogging) into daily practices. Our activities will proceed with a simple and effective flow. During the preparation phase, we will set personal learning goals within the S.M.A.R.T. framework and introduce route safety and well-being protocols. During the mobility, we will implement short assignments, peer feedback sessions, and micro-community interactions in each city. At the end of the journey, we will disseminate the learning through local presentations and online sharing activities. Our participant profile will include at least five young people with fewer opportunities; rural backgrounds, economic barriers, and language/mobility needs will be considered, and gender balance will be maintained. We will develop an "Individual Support Plan" for each young person and provide companion and peer mentor support as needed. Safety, accessibility, and well-being will be our priorities from day one. The expected results will be tangible and measurable. Participants will demonstrate significant progress in independent travel, communication, time management, and problem-solving, and will produce evidence through Youthpass certificates. Digital content and short reports (e.g., a "Green Learnings" summary) produced throughout the project will be shared publicly, and we will reach a broader youth audience through local presentations and workshops. We will embed learning in the institutional memory regarding impact and sustainability. At the end of the project, we will incorporate good practices into the "Operations Manual," position participants as peer mentors in subsequent cycles, and develop a replicable and scalable youth work model that exemplifies inclusive mobility. Our project will support youth empowerment, the emergence of new local collaborations, and lasting behavioral changes aligned with European youth goals.
