The starting point of this project is a simple yet powerful spark: young people themselves have identified a pressing need to better understand their own identity, mental well-being, and pathways for self-expression. In today’s world, youth face increasing challenges of uncertainty, social pressure, and disconnection. Many struggle to balance the expectations of society with their own inner needs, often lacking safe spaces to explore who they are and what they want to contribute to the world. This project was born from that need - directly voiced by participants who recognised the importance of finding creative, collective solutions. By implementing this project, we want to create a transformative space where young people can strengthen their self-awareness, develop resilience, and discover tools for shaping their personal and professional futures. The project will combine creative methods (art, storytelling, Dixit-style reflection cards, branding exercises) with non-formal education approaches rooted in participation, inclusion, and experiential learning. It will show how youth work can directly empower individuals to build confidence, improve mental health, and translate self-discovery into positive social action. Objectives of the project (from the perspective of youth work practice): -To support young people in exploring identity and mental well-being through non-formal education. By using interactive workshops, creative expression, and peer-to-peer learning, we aim to give participants tools for self-reflection, stress management, and building self-esteem. In this way, youth work becomes a bridge between inner development and community engagement. -To grow self-expression and self-branding skills. The project introduces innovative methods such as the Self-Branding Toolkit and creative card games that help young people articulate their values, strengths, and goals. This not only builds their capacity for self-presentation in academic and professional contexts but also nurtures a deeper sense of authenticity and self-confidence. -To inspire participants as co-creators of solutions. The project idea itself originates from the participants’ recognition of their needs. From this spark of awareness, they have taken initiative to design a project that serves as both a safe space for themselves and a model for others. This ownership ensures motivation, relevance, and a strong sense of responsibility for the outcomes. -To promote intercultural dialogue and solidarity. By bringing together young people from different countries, cultures, and backgrounds, the project will foster mutual understanding, empathy, and collaboration. Youth work here serves not only as a support system for individuals but also as a catalyst for building bridges between diverse communities. -To contribute to the Inclusion and Diversity Strategy of Erasmus+. The project prioritises accessibility by including young people with fewer opportunities, including those with disabilities. Activities will be designed to ensure equal participation, highlighting the principle that everyone has valuable perspectives to share and talents to express. -To create sustainable and transferable results. Through open resources such as the Self-Branding Toolkit and the Dixit-style reflection cards, the project will generate practical tools for youth workers and educators across Europe. These resources will extend the impact of the project beyond its duration, providing long-term benefits for the wider youth field. Through this project, we expect participants to leave with stronger self-awareness, better coping mechanisms for anxiety and stress, and practical skills for self-expression. They will also experience intercultural collaboration, build friendships, and discover that their personal journeys are deeply connected to wider social challenges. Youth workers involved will gain new methodologies, while partner organisations will strengthen their capacity to address mental health and identity topics through creative non-formal education. Why this matters for youth? Youth work is uniquely positioned to address the emotional, social, and identity-related challenges of young people. Unlike formal education, it provides safe spaces for experimentation, creativity, and personal growth. This project demonstrates how youth work can respond to real needs expressed by young people, creating a model of practice that combines mental well-being, creativity, and social participation. We believe that by living our values and leading through our own example, we can inspire other young people to take similar initiatives in their communities. This project is not just an activity - it is a journey of self-discovery, empowerment, and solidarity. It embodies the spirit of Erasmus+: young people taking responsibility, creating solutions, and sharing them with others. From a small spark of need, a flame of collective change can grow, we are determined to carry this.
