Objectives

With Eco-Competent we want to empower youth workers to respond to one of the biggest challenges faced by young people today: the combination of the climate crisis and rising eco-anxiety. Many young people feel worried and powerless, and youth workers need the right competences to guide them without causing more fear or disengagement. Our main objectives are to: Strengthen youth workers’ capacity to address eco-anxiety in a constructive and supportive way, linking mental health and resilience with climate action. Provide practical methods and tools that can be directly applied in youth work, such as workshops on sustainable mobility, creative activities, climate cafés, and resilience-building exercises. Promote inclusive practices, ensuring that disadvantaged groups such as refugees, NEETs, or deaf participants are fully involved in climate and wellbeing activities. Build a European peer-learning network of youth workers, so that good practices are exchanged and multiplied across different local contexts. Connect local youth work more strongly with European priorities such as the EU Green Deal, the UN Sustainable Development Goals, and the EU Youth Strategy.
