This project aims to collectively create an awareness campaign on active citizenship using artistic expression as a vehicle for engagement. It responds to a need identified by our young people during our regular activities: to compare their visions of citizenship with young people from other cultural backgrounds and develop their communication skills to raise awareness among their peers about democratic participation. From a youth work perspective, our central objective is to transform young people from working-class backgrounds into autonomous civic actors, capable of initiating and leading participatory actions in their communities using a variety of artistic tools. This non-formal education approach values young people's creative and cultural skills rather than their academic performance, thereby reversing the situations of failure they have often experienced. The project develops four types of citizen expression tools corresponding to the cultural specificities of each partner country: posters with strong messages in Belgium, theatrical sketches on the vision of citizenship in Morocco, slam poetry in France, and poetry in literary Arabic in Tunisia. This methodological diversity greatly enriches the range of interventions available to youth workers and participants themselves. During the exchange, each group presents its creations and then leads a workshop allowing other participants to experiment with these different forms of expression. This pedagogy of mutual learning between peers values everyone's knowledge and creates a horizontal rather than top-down dynamic, a fundamental principle of non-formal education. Structured sessions of intercultural reflection enable participants to compare national approaches to citizenship and build a common European and Mediterranean vision of democratic participation. These exchanges develop young people's critical thinking about participatory systems and their respective limitations. The highlight will be the collective organisation of a concrete one-day civic action, co-created by all participants. This immediate practical application transforms theoretical learning into real-life experience, firmly anchoring the skills acquired. Beyond the direct participants, this project aims to create a multiplier effect in the territories. The young people trained become active ambassadors, using the tools they have learned to raise awareness among other young people and organise local actions. Each participant commits to training at least five other young people in the year following the exchange, thus multiplying the impact in line with the Erasmus+ priorities of democratic participation and social inclusion. From an organisational point of view, the project strengthens the capacities of partner structures in the field of citizen-led artistic activities, creating a sustainable network of Euro-Mediterranean cooperation on these themes. The methodologies developed enrich youth work practices and will be documented in an educational kit accessible to all European stakeholders.
