The Peace Field Programme’s (PFP) annual week-long peace education through play event, The Global Peace Games, creates young Ambassadors for Peace. Celebrating peace on the United Nations International Day of Peace. Young people will be prepared for the unique opportunity to learn about the power of play when they visit the Peace Village, Flanders, Belgium, the site of the First World War 1914 Christmas truces. The PFP helps boost confidence, self-esteem and enhances life skills. The PFP experience will enhance personal, social and educational development. The young Ambassadors for Peace will lead on twinning designated areas of play in their respective communities with the Peace Village’s Peace Pitch, Flanders. Representing diverse communities, participants will research the power of play and learn how conflict resolution, shared learning and cultural development can change attitudes, forming friendships for life. The overarching goal is to empower young people to reach their full potential and become active, engaged, and responsible citizens. The impact will be a tangible living legacy in the form of new peace pitches across Europe created by the young Ambassadors for Peace. Through the PFP’s Global Peace Games, the peace pitches will engage schools, clubs and groups to facilitate annual events celebrating peace and commemorating wars in their community.
