With this project, we aim to strengthen the advocacy skills of youth workers in the field of defense policy. By bringing together 13 national youth councils, we seek to foster mutual understanding, share best practices and develop new approaches to address current challenges in youth participation and defense policy. Through closer cooperation, focused on peer learning, joint workshops and study visits; we intend to enhance the skills, knowledge and competencies of the participating youth workers. Additionally, we want to stimulate the development and implementation of innovative methods and tools in youth participation, advocacy and inclusion. A key objective is to exchange perspectives on European militarisation and explore how young people can contribute to peacebuilding in line with EU values such as human dignity, freedom, democracy, equality and respect for human rights. The idea for this project emerged from regular informal exchanges during YFJ General Assemblies, where youth councils inspire and support each other in strengthening youth policy and youth work. However, there is a growing need for structured, thematic collaboration on urgent geopolitical issues that affect young people’s future; such as the increasing militarisation of Europe and the evolving role of European defense. Through this project, the youth councils will: - Reflect on the implications of militarisation for young people - Share youth work practices that promote peacebuilding and non-violence; - Develop joint recommendations and strategies for youth participation in peace-related policy; - And strengthen their capacity to engage in European-level advocacy and dialogue.
