In a world that is rapidly moving towards a greener and more sustainable economy, young people face the challenge – and the opportunity – to be the driving force behind this transformation. The green transition is not just an environmental priority, but a driver of new jobs, innovation and social change. According to the World Economic Forum’s Future of Jobs Report 2025, sustainability and green skills are already among the key factors transforming the job market. Over 70% of companies say they are looking for employees with knowledge and competences in this area, but young people often do not have access to opportunities to develop such skills. (https://www.weforum.org/publications/the-future-of-jobs-report-2025/in-full/3-skills-outlook/ ) In March 2025, the youth unemployment rate in the EU was 14.5%, with 2.82 million young people under 25 years of age unemployed in the EU, of whom 2.27 million in the euro area. At the same time, the demand for green skills is growing significantly. According to a LinkedIn report, between 2022 and 2023, the number of job postings requiring at least one green skill increased by 22.4%, while the number of applicants with such skills increased by only 12.3%. This shows that the demand for green skills is almost twice as high as the supply. Along with these, soft skills such as teamwork, communication, critical thinking and the ability to learn have been identified by the CEDEFOP study as fundamental for successful implementation in the green economy, due to their flexibility and applicability across different professional sectors. The "Green Ready" project aims to meet this need. During the youth exchange, participants from Bulgaria, Romania, Poland, Italy and Turkey will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in practical and intercultural activities dedicated to green and soft skills, sustainable entrepreneurship and the future of work in a sustainability-oriented world. The project aims to: 1. Improve participants’ understanding of the labour market and the key skills needed for successful implementation, with a focus on green and sustainable competences. 2. Raise awareness of the importance of green and transversal skills for finding a job and adapting to the changing labour market. 3. Encourage proactive behaviour and an entrepreneurial spirit among participants, inspiring them to create their own sustainable initiatives. 4. Promote non-formal education and the Erasmus+ programme as tools for youth employment and competence building. 5. Promote cultural diversity and exchange by deepening the understanding of European values and projects.
