Objectives

To achieve our project goals, "Own the Stage: Theatre as a Path to Mental Health," we aim to address the significant mental health challenges faced by youth, including depression, anxiety, and stress. We believe that theatre and performing arts can offer transformative benefits in this context. Objectives of the Project: -Promote Mental Well-being: We seek to provide young people with a safe, creative space to express themselves, which is crucial for mental wellness. Through theatre, participants will explore their emotions, experience different identities, and develop coping mechanisms for anxiety and depression. The creative process will offer therapeutic benefits and support their mental health journey. -Develop Soft Skills: Theatre helps in the development of essential soft skills such as communication, empathy, teamwork, and problem-solving. These skills are vital for personal and professional growth and will empower participants to navigate various life challenges effectively. -Foster Equitable Participation: Our project emphasizes creating an inclusive environment where every participant can contribute, regardless of their background. We aim to ensure that the benefits of the project are accessible to all, promoting equity and anti-oppression practices throughout. -Integrate Diverse Knowledge Systems: The project will incorporate various pedagogical approaches, including traditional and place-based knowledge. By acknowledging and valuing different worldviews and learning methodologies, we will create a more holistic and equitable learning experience. -Encourage Deeper Understanding and Reflection: Through the use of theatre as a tool for self-exploration and expression, participants will be encouraged to reflect on their experiences, broadening their perspectives and fostering a deeper understanding of themselves and others. -Enhance Environmental and Sustainability Awareness: The project will also integrate principles of environmental education and sustainability. Participants will engage in discussions and activities that promote ecojustice, place-based education, and climate change awareness, linking these themes with their theatrical work. -Support Lifelong Learning and Development: By providing a structured yet flexible learning environment, the project supports continuous personal development and prepares participants for future challenges, both in their personal lives and careers. -Build Community and Solidarity: The project will create opportunities for participants to build networks and support systems, fostering a sense of community and solidarity among young people dealing with similar issues. This network will be crucial for long-term support and empowerment. -Creating Performance Spaces: The project will design and renovate accessible performance spaces for young people. In partnership with local governments, we aim to create venues where these people can express their talents and grow professionally. -Empowerment through Education and Training: Workshops and training sessions will be organized as part of the project to enhance the acting and theatrical skills of young talents. Many participants may not have formal theatre education, so these opportunities will better prepare them for professional careers and increase their demand and opportunities in the field. -Cultural Understanding and Interaction: The project will involve participants from diverse cultural backgrounds, increasing intercultural awareness among them. This objective aligns with the broader goals of the Erasmus+ program, promoting cultural diversity and cooperation. -Empowerment for Active Citizenship: The project aims to foster a sense of community and social responsibility through theatre and drama. Activities will be designed to empower young artists to actively participate in promoting positive change within their communities. Through these objectives, we aim to address mental health challenges in a holistic manner, combining artistic expression with essential life skills, environmental consciousness, and equitable practices to ensure a comprehensive and impactful experience for all participants.
