Preventing racism and discriminationBridging intercultural, intergenerational and social divide

Objectives

Through this project, we aim to empower young people to experience the benefits of multiculturalism while addressing its challenges. Cyprus, as a rapidly diversifying society, provides the ideal setting to explore issues of inclusion, discrimination, and intercultural dialogue. Young people are often at the center of these dynamics, facing both opportunities for growth and risks of prejudice, xenophobia, and division. From a youth work perspective, the project will create a safe space for young people from different countries to learn, share, and collaborate across cultures. It will support them in developing empathy, resilience, and intercultural sensitivity, while equipping them with the tools to combat discrimination, racism, and hate speech both online and offline. By promoting human rights, solidarity, and European values, the project will encourage active citizenship and prepare participants to navigate diverse societies. Our main aim is to create an impactful project that addresses the real needs of young people. To define these needs, we decided to conduct a survey among youth from all partner countries. The survey results helped us identify the most relevant and current needs on the topics, which guided us in setting clear objectives and designing activities that truly meet young people’s needs. Objectives: Raise awareness about the benefits of multiculturalism. Foster intercultural dialogue and mutual understanding. Equip youth to combat discrimination, racism, stereotypes, and xenophobia. Promote inclusion, human rights, and active participation in society. Strengthen European values of solidarity, respect, and cooperation. Build resilience and adaptability in multicultural contexts. Highlight the role of intercultural dialogue in advancing democracy and civic engagement. Develop empathy and inclusive mindsets to reduce social divisions.
