Objectives

Young people across Europe often describe the same frustration: they are motivated to enter the labor market, but they do not feel prepared or supported in taking the first step. The Job Jam project was designed precisely as a youth work response to this situation. From our perspective, the primary aim is to create a supportive learning environment where young people not only acquire concrete employability skills but also discover their own strengths, values, and potential to shape their futures. By implementing this project, we want to achieve a long-term improvement in the way young people experience the transition from education to employment. Many of them face uncertainty, lack of confidence, or limited opportunities to practice skills that employers expect, such as presenting themselves in interviews, writing a professional CV, or navigating multicultural workplaces. Youth work can bridge this gap by offering spaces where participants learn experientially, supported by peers and facilitators, without the pressure of immediate evaluation. Overall Goal: To equip 36 young people from Czechia, Slovakia, Hungary, and Romania with the competences, confidence, and intercultural awareness necessary to succeed in job interviews and to secure meaningful employment opportunities. Specific Objectives: 1. Support participants in creating professional CVs and motivation letters, using digital tools such as Europass. By the end of the project, every young person will have a tailored application portfolio, built through feedback and guided workshops with an HR professional. 2. Enable participants to practice all key stages of job-seeking: from finding vacancies and applying, to interviews and job offers through simulations and mock interviews. 3. Strengthen teamwork, adaptability, and cultural awareness by engaging participants from countries with diverse employment realities. Participants will learn how to collaborate effectively in multicultural environments- a competence essential for the European labor market. From a youth work practice perspective, these objectives highlight the nature of the project. We do not treat young people merely as “future workers” but as individuals with unique aspirations and contributions. The project combines career preparation with the values of intercultural learning, solidarity, and empowerment. It supports participants in discovering their voices, while at the same time offering very concrete outcomes that increase their chances of employment. Through Job Jam, we also want to demonstrate the power of non-formal education in tackling societal issues. Youth exchanges are not only about travel or cultural discovery, they are laboratories where young people test ideas, build resilience, and form networks that last well beyond the project. Our ultimate achievement will be to see participants succeed in finding jobs but also act as role models in their communities, passing on what they have learned.
