World on a Plate is an Erasmus+ Youth Exchange that uses food as a tool to explore important issues faced by young people today: financial literacy, sustainability, and solidarity. The project brings together 30 young people and 6 group leaders from the Czech Republic, Spain, France, Poland, Turkey, and Lithuania to learn how food connects daily choices with global challenges such as poverty, hunger, and climate change. The general aim of World on a Plate is to use food as a lens to explore how economic choices, sustainability, and cultural values are interconnected, inspiring young people to become more responsible, resourceful, and socially engaged citizens in Europe and beyond. Through workshops, cooking activities, budgeting challenges, and intercultural teamwork, participants will strengthen their skills in household budgeting, sustainable food management, and responsible consumption. They will also develop digital competences by co-creating a Digital Cookbook with budget-friendly and sustainable recipes enriched with cultural stories, and by producing an informative video to raise awareness on food, solidarity, and sustainability. From a youth work perspective, the project builds on non-formal education methods that are interactive, inclusive, and youth-led. Participants are not passive learners but active co-creators: they help shape activities, lead workshops, and take responsibility for dissemination in their own communities after the exchange. The project also creates space for intercultural dialogue by forming mixed-national teams for cooking, reflection, and creative tasks, ensuring that participants learn directly from each other’s cultures and realities. The objectives of World on a Plate are: Strengthen financial literacy of young people by providing practical skills in house budgeting, meal planning, and responsible shopping. Promote sustainable practices and circular economy by encouraging participants to reduce food waste, reuse resources, and prioritize local and seasonal products. Raise awareness about global hunger and poverty, connecting participants’ daily food habits to wider social and economic challenges. Develop digital and creative competences through the co-creation of an informative video and related social media content.
