The project builds on our previous experience with international youth exchanges focused on mental health, which combined experiential learning, intercultural dialogue, and current social issues. Last year, we expanded this theme to include digital skills, responding to the growing influence of technology on the daily lives of young people. Very positive feedback from participants and partner organizations confirmed that the combination of digital literacy and mental well-being support is extremely beneficial in both the Czech and European contexts. Based on our own survey of more than 200 high school students, the evaluation of the previous project, and international studies (WHO, HBSC, BIK+), we identified key needs: low awareness of risks in the digital environment (cybersecurity, manipulation, AI), excessive time spent online at the expense of exercise, sleep, and mental well-being, and an insufficient ability to maintain a balance between online and offline life. Main objectives of the project - To raise awareness of digital literacy, AI, and cybersecurity - participants will learn how to navigate the online environment safely, protect their personal data, and prevent risks. Through workshops such as Recognizing Manipulation, Disinformation, and Deepfakes or AI in the Context of Mental Health, they will gain the skills to recognize digital threats and respond appropriately. At the same time, they will learn how to use digital technologies—such as apps, social networks, and AI tools - as a tool for their development and education. - Promoting mental health and digital life balance – participants will learn to consciously plan their time and maintain a healthy balance between the digital and real worlds. Through mental hygiene, sports, and outdoor activities, they will acquire healthy offline habits and try out various applications and tools for time management and developing social relationships. This will help them discover that technology can be used not only for entertainment, but also for personal and professional growth. Our long-term goal is also to develop intercultural skills and participation with an emphasis on the inclusion of disadvantaged youth. Participants from seven European countries will share experiences, discuss project topics and everyday life, thereby developing their language skills, tolerance, and European solidarity. Children from children's homes and disadvantaged youth will also be involved in the project, which will strengthen their self-confidence and integration into society. Overall impact of the project Participants will learn to use digital technologies safely and meaningfully, plan their time, and maintain a balance between online and offline life. They will develop critical thinking, stress resistance, and teamwork through experiential and outdoor learning. They will strengthen their mental health, gain practical skills needed for modern society, and the international environment will support their language skills and ability to collaborate across cultures. By combining cybersecurity, digital wellbeing, and outdoor activities, the project helps young people build skills that are useful in everyday life, further education, and future employment. At the same time, it promotes intercultural dialogue and European identity.
