Objectives

The project “Young Protectors: Why Human Rights Matter” aims to raise awareness among young people about human rights and empower them to become active participants in defending democratic values and social inclusion. In a world where youth are increasingly exposed to discrimination, inequality, hate speech, and social injustice, it is essential to provide them with safe, engaging, and educational spaces where they can learn, reflect, and take action. Through nonformal learning, creative methods, and intercultural dialogue, the project will help participants understand their rights, speak up for others, and recognize their role in shaping a fairer society. From a youth work perspective, the main objective is to strengthen young people’s civic competences and encourage active participation at the local and European levels. The project will increase knowledge of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and its relevance in everyday life, while also helping participants develop key personal and social competences such as teamwork, empathy, communication, leadership, and conflict resolution. The exchange will support young people in recognizing injustice, respecting diversity, and taking initiative in their own communities. It also offers youth workers and youth leaders a chance to explore new methods of human rights education and apply creative tools that promote inclusion and empowerment.
