Our project aimed to respond to the urgent need for empathy, understanding, and peaceful communication among young people from regions affected by conflict and social tensions. We wanted to create a safe and inclusive environment where participants from different cultural, ethnic, and national backgrounds could meet, exchange experiences, and build meaningful relationships. The project addressed the limited opportunities for intercultural dialogue, the lack of experience in non-violent communication, and the need for practical resilience-building skills among young people. Throughout the youth exchange, we viewed young people as active agents of change who could help bridge differences, challenge stereotypes, and promote peace within their communities. Our project was designed by and for young people and used non-formal education methods that encouraged active participation, creativity, teamwork, and shared responsibility. We can easily say that our project successfully pursued the following objectives: Promoted empathy, mutual understanding, and respect among participants from different backgrounds. Developed participants' skills in non-violent communication, peaceful dialogue, active listening, and constructive debate. Strengthened resilience by introducing practical tools and methods for dealing with conflict, stress, and social tensions. Created lasting intercultural friendships and networks that continued beyond the mobility. Encouraged active citizenship and motivated participants to contribute to peacebuilding initiatives in their local communities. Provided safe spaces where participants openly shared personal experiences, reflected on different perspectives, and learned from one another. Fostered a stronger sense of solidarity, shared values, and cooperation across communities. Encouraged critical thinking about current social challenges, discrimination, prejudice, and conflict. Raised awareness of the value of cultural diversity at local, national, and European levels. Equipped participants with practical non-formal education tools and methods that they could adapt and use in their own youth work and communities. Increased tolerance, openness, acceptance, and intercultural competence among all participants. Strengthened participants' understanding of European values, intercultural dialogue, inclusion, and their sense of belonging to a diverse Europe. European fundamental values remained at the core of all project activities. Rather than discussing these values only in theory, participants experienced them through cooperation, dialogue, reflection, and shared learning. As a result, the project created a transformative learning experience that had a positive impact not only on the participants themselves but also on the communities to which they returned, encouraging further initiatives promoting dialogue, resilience, inclusion, and peace.
