The project Chalk Voices for Peace in Potsdam aims to develop mutual dialogue, knowledge sharing, tolerance, respect, and solidarity among young people from different cultural and social backgrounds. Through their participation in this collective artistic project, participants will gain tools to better understand the causes of violence and explore peaceful methods of reconciliation. A further objective is to actively involve young people who are often stigmatized due to high levels of violence in their environments, supporting their integration into social and cultural life through creative engagement. The exchange will provide young people with opportunities to: Acquire tools to anticipate the causes of violence and learn approaches to reconciliation. Gather around shared values while acknowledging and respecting differences. Strengthen their integration into social and cultural life in Potsdam and beyond. Practice Chalk Art as a creative method for social change. Involve disadvantaged youth in an enriching and rewarding artistic project. Enhance the value and recognition of artistic creation as a form of youth work. Promote tolerance, peaceful coexistence, and acceptance of diversity. Since art often arises from conflict and confrontation, participants will learn to engage with these challenges constructively. Guided by FEM and experienced artists, the Chalk Art workshops will serve as a safe and inspiring space for young people to question, reflect, and develop new solutions through creativity.
