Young people across Europe are growing up in a world where the pressure to “look perfect” is stronger than ever. Social media, cultural stereotypes, and peer comparison often create unrealistic expectations, leaving many with low self-esteem and doubts about their own worth. Youth workers see this reality every day—young people hiding their insecurities, struggling to express themselves, or withdrawing from opportunities because they feel they are not “good enough.” Through this project we want to respond directly to these challenges, using non-formal education as a tool to build resilience, promote acceptance, and help young people discover that their value is far greater than their appearance. Through this youth exchange we aim to: 1. Support self-acceptance by helping participants feel comfortable in their own bodies. 2. Strengthen mental well-being and resilience against negative thoughts. 3. Raise awareness about the influence of social media on body image. 4. Encourage participants to share personal experiences in a safe and supportive environment. 5. Foster creative expression through art, writing, sport, and performance as tools for empowerment. 6. Promote intercultural understanding by connecting youth from different European countries. 7. Include young people with fewer opportunities and provide them equal access to international learning. 8. Develop digital skills through the creation of youth-led online campaigns and content. 9. Introduce participants to the Erasmus+ programme as a pathway for further personal and professional growth. By implementing this project, we want to achieve more than a week of activities—we want to create a turning point in the lives of participants. The youth exchange will be a safe space where they can challenge the stereotypes that hold them back, learn practical tools for resilience, and experience what it means to be accepted as they are. The impact will be visible not only in their self-confidence but also in their ability to use creativity, teamwork, and digital skills to influence their peers in a positive way. From the perspective of youth work practice, this project strengthens the role of youth exchanges as places where young people can find their voice, feel empowered, and return to their communities with new energy to inspire others. We believe that by giving them this experience, we are not just shaping more confident individuals, but also building more inclusive and supportive communities across Europe.
