Objectives

The goal of our project is to empower young people to recognize, question, and respond to misinformation and fake news - not only to protect themselves, but to become active agents of truth and awareness in their communities. In today’s world, where digital information is fast, emotional, and often unverified, youth work must support young people in building critical thinking, emotional resilience, and digital responsibility. From a youth work perspective, Filter It! aims to create a safe, non-formal space where participants can explore how fake news affects mental health, public trust, and everyday decisions. Youth workers will play a key role in facilitating open conversations, using creative tools to break down complex topics, and helping participants reflect on their personal media habits. By encouraging dialogue, active participation, and peer learning, we aim to support young people in developing 21st-century competences like media literacy, communication, empathy, and civic responsibility. Main aim is to equip young people with the knowledge, tools, and confidence to recognize fake news, think critically about the media they consume, and act responsibly in digital spaces. Other objectives To improve media literacy among young people using nonformal, engaging methods. To develop critical thinking skills by analyzing real and fake content together. To raise awareness about how fake news can affect mental health, create fear, and divide communities. To promote ethical behavior online and inspire youth to use digital tools in a more informed and responsible way. To foster intercultural understanding through teamwork, shared learning, and creative collaboration across countries.
