Objectives

"SEEds of Tomorrow" is a project that will take place in Chepelare, Bulgaria for 9 activity days involving 36 young people from 6 different European countries, including Bulgaria and partners from Germany, Bulgaria, Serbia, Netherlands, Italy and Romania. The organizer and host is the association Teen Spirit, which creates a space where young people can express their creativity, develop sustainable skills, and become active drivers of positive change in their communities. Chepelare has been strategically chosen as the venue - a small mountain town in the Rhodope region, known for its natural beauty but also facing real environmental challenges. Over the past two decades, the region has lost nearly 900 hectares of forest cover, 155 hectares of which due to wildfires alone. In addition, climate change, rising average temperatures, local droughts, and pressure on biodiversity make Chepelare a fitting place for a project that combines youth energy, environmental care, and social engagement. The aim of the project is to inspire young people to become active agents of change through hands-on involvement in gardening activities and the creation of green spaces. Through fieldwork, tree planting, and greening of public areas, participants will not only gain knowledge and skills in sustainable agriculture and environmental responsibility but also see the direct results of their efforts in the local environment. In this way, the project will help Chepelare, its residents, and the municipality live in greener surroundings and gain inspiration to continue similar initiatives after the exchange. From the perspective of youth work, "SEEds of Tomorrow" is designed to support the personal and social development of participants through non-formal education methods. During the project, young people will take part in role plays, debates, group tasks, and workshops that encourage critical thinking, teamwork, leadership, and creativity. These non-formal methods will be combined with practical outdoor activities, allowing learning by doing and creating a strong sense of belonging and significance. Participants will also have the opportunity to organize and lead their own initiatives during the exchange, giving them confidence and practical experience in project and campaign management. A key focus is also on integrating the values of the Erasmus+ program. Participants will develop digital competences by documenting and sharing results online, will be encouraged to apply eco-sustainable practices such as recycling, using local resources, and reducing waste, and will engage in intercultural dialogue by working in multinational teams and exchanging ideas, traditions, and good practices. This not only enriches their personal development but also connects the project to the long-term priorities of the European Union for a green future, digital transformation and social inclusion. The project is also aimed at the local community. Through public events, green actions, and cooperation with local organizations and municipal authorities, the initiative will create visible change in the urban environment and build stronger connections between young people and the residents of Chepelare. In this way, the exchange goes beyond a training programme and becomes a living example of how young people can bring new life to towns and regions affected by climate change and social apathy. In the long term, "SEEds of Tomorrow" seeks to build a sustainable network of young people and organizations ready to continue working in the fields of ecology, gardening, and sustainable development. By exchanging good practices between participants from different countries, the project will lay the foundation for international cooperation that may lead to new initiatives and projects. The strength of this exchange lies not only in the practical skills young people will gain but also in the feeling that they are capable of creating real change. The inspiration they receive will stay with them after the end of the project, shaping their active citizenship, community engagement, environmental care, and planning of follow-up activities in their home countries. "SEEds of Tomorrow" is not just a youth exchange, but a movement for green change that combines education, practical action, and social impact. It shows that when young people work together with enthusiasm and courage, change is not only possible but also inspiring, bringing hope for both the present and the future.
