Objectives

Young people today live in multicultural societies, where encounters with diverse traditions and values provide opportunities for learning and personal growth, while also requiring careful understanding and constructive engagement with differences. These interactions highlight the importance of European values such as respect for human dignity, inclusion, equality, and the ability to live together harmoniously with people from different backgrounds. In line with the Council of Europe’s recommendations, intercultural competence is a fundamental skill that needs to be developed, learned, and maintained throughout life, as it is essential for fostering mutual understanding and sustainable societal change (Council of Europe, Intercultural Competence for All, 2018). However, these encounters do not always happen in structured or supportive environments that allow for meaningful reflection, dialogue, and creative exploration. In this context, youth work plays a crucial role in providing non-formal learning opportunities that help young people develop cultural awareness, social skills, and confidence to engage constructively with diversity. This project aims to respond to these needs by creating an inclusive environment where participants can learn from each other, express themselves through creative activities, and strengthen mutual understanding. The objectives of the project are to: Foster meaningful intercultural learning, encouraging empathy, mutual understanding, and respect for diversity. Empower participants to reflect on and express their own cultural identities while appreciating those of others. Enable young people to explore not only different cultures from other countries but also the diverse cultures and subcultures within their own societies. Use dance, music, and historical storytelling as creative tools to engage participants in cultural exploration and inclusive dialogue. Develop soft skills such as teamwork, communication, creativity, and problem-solving through collaborative artistic activities. Provide a safe and inclusive platform for young people from diverse backgrounds to share experiences and amplify their voices. Encourage participants to apply their learning in their local communities, promoting cultural awareness and inclusive practices beyond the project. Foster collaboration between youth-led organizations, amplifying their collective impact in strengthening respect for diversity and intercultural understanding. Create sustainable networks and platforms for ongoing dialogue, exchange, and creative collaboration on cultural diversity beyond the duration of the project.
