Objectives

Currently, we are experiencing a rising level of hate speech, discrimination and radicalisation across the participating countries, including Italy, Spain and France. Very often the hate, and in some cases more and more also psyhical attacks is addressed to young migrants, refugees and generally, young people belonging to the minorities, coming from different cultural backgrounds and very often not feeling to be part of the societies regardles the fact if they belong to the first, second or even third generation of migrants and refugees. Moreover, through our local activities, we, together with our partners, received comments and feedback that young people from minority and refugee backgrounds feel that they are being overlooked, and society sees them as the ones who are 'taking the social support', 'should go back to their countries'. These perceptions are hurting young people and making their position in society even more challenging. Overall, we aim to reach the following objectives by the project 'Youth Migrants Telling their Stories': -to give young migrants, refugees, young people with fewer opportunities, the participants representing eight countries (Italy, Germany, Turkey, France, Poland, Spain, North Macedonia and Bulgaria), the space through storytelling to express themselves and share their stories; -to connect the participants and empower them through non-formal-based activities addressing elements of communication, participation, activism; -to provide the participants with an opportunity to directly experience various storytelling activities and encourage them to include storytelling in their daily life as a way of supporting their well-being and mental health, as a way of expressing themselves, being active and make other members of their societies and communities aware of their issues, situation; -to increase the knowledge of the participants on the Erasmus + Programme and encourage them to be active and through the Erasmus+ to continue to work on the development of their competencies as well as to address issues that concern they are concerning and they would like to change; -to support building new networks and partnerships between the partner organisations with the aim of supporting the development of new projects and initiatives; -to share the experiences through a series of local follow-up events and encourage other young people to try out storytelling techniques and methods, and/or to participate in the Erasmus+ Programme.
