This project aims to contribute to the European Union’s Digital Decade 2030 policy framework, which seeks to create a safer, more secure digital environment and promote digital innovation across Europe. Addressing the growing challenges of cybersecurity and digital safety faced by young people online, the project aims to equip participants with the necessary skills to mitigate everyday risks in the digital world, ensuring they can navigate the digital space safely, responsibly, and ethically. According to a 2023 report by the European Union Agency for Cybersecurity (ENISA), over 40% of Europeans have encountered some form of cyber threat, whether it's data breaches, online scams, or other forms of exploitation. This statistic underscores the urgent need for cybersecurity education, which can empower young people to recognize and prevent such risks, thereby safeguarding themselves and their communities. The objectives are focused on empowering youth to become informed, responsible digital citizens. This includes developing core competencies such as digital literacy, cybersecurity knowledge, problem-solving skills, and teamwork abilities. Participants will gain practical knowledge in identifying cyber threats. Through hands-on workshops and interactive simulations, participants will engage with tools and techniques used to defend against modern cyber-attacks, gaining real-world experience in cybersecurity practices. The project will focus on non-formal education methods, emphasizing interactive learning and peer engagement. The project will encourage collaboration between young people from different countries, fostering an international network of cybersecurity advocates. This network will allow participants to exchange ideas, strategies, and best practices, helping them develop leadership skills and promoting collaboration on shared digital challenges. Through peer learning, participants will not only enhance their own understanding of cybersecurity but also become responsible leaders within their communities, sharing their knowledge and helping others understand the importance of digital safety. We will also explore the intersection of emerging technologies and cybersecurity. Participants will gain an understanding of how technologies like artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning can both enhance cybersecurity measures and introduce new risks. They will learn to use these technologies to strengthen online safety while being aware of the potential threats posed by malicious actors using these same tools. This will provide participants with a balanced understanding of the benefits and challenges of technological innovations, empowering them to make informed decisions about their use. Additionally, the project will emphasize responsible digital citizenship by fostering ethical behavior online. This includes promoting personal data protection, respecting others' privacy, and ensuring safe online behavior. By encouraging participants to adopt responsible practices, we aim to create safer digital communities and empower youth to make informed decisions in the digital space. The project’s impact will extend beyond the immediate participants. By equipping them with both technical skills and ethical awareness, we aim to create a generation of young people who are not only digitally literate but also capable of defending themselves and their communities against increasingly sophisticated cyber threats. Participants will be encouraged to share what they learned from the project by organizing local initiatives, such as workshops or awareness campaigns about cybersecurity. Through non-formal education, peer learning, and hands-on activities, the project will provide participants with the skills and knowledge to navigate the digital world safely, while fostering collaboration, critical thinking, and leadership. These outcomes align with the core values of youth work, ensuring that participants are well-prepared to address digital challenges and actively contribute to the development of safe, responsible, and ethical online communities.
