Objectives

The basis for this application is that we live in an era where the flow of information is huge or there is no information at all, when we talk about certain topics. In many countries the topic of sex is still taboo, in others it's not, but there are still obstacles when facing sex-related topics. Parents and schools often provide unreliable/insufficient and heteronormative information, and the same happens with peers. Internet plays a large role, we live in a digital era, where information is widely spread but often not correct. In addition, there is media coverage which can distort the perception of sexuality (for example, youth watching pornographic content on the internet). A lot of times educators are not comfortable to talk about these topics; thus, it is hard to pass the knowledge on to the younger generations. As a result, there is an increasing risk of STIs (sexually transmitted infections), teenage pregnancies (because of the lack of knowledge about contraception and responsibility) and sexual abuse and harassment. We want to provide a Training Course in Sexual Education which is informed, inclusive and going beyond the heteronormative. We will work on key concepts like Consent, which young people need to become aware of and practice. We will go through physical processes like menstruation and puberty, as well as practising exercises that can be used for reflection on behaviour and interaction between young people. We will also include a session from an external expert on Intersex. We prefer a pleasure-based to a fear-based non-formal educational atmosphere, keeping in mind the different realities educators from different countries and cultures operate in. OBJECTIVES: 1. Raise social awareness about the importance of Sexual Education and consent 2. Break the taboos and myths surrounding sexuality 3. Exchange knowledge and practices on Sexual Education in the participating countries 4. To find creative ways to incorporate Sexual Education into youth work and education
