We want to destigmatize mental health, to explore effective methods of self-care and to introduce them into (international) youth work. Our aim is to strengthen the resilience of young people, who are affected by several sources of risk such as climate change, migration and shrinking civil spaces. The youth workers who are part of this project work with young Belarusian activists in exile. We will explore methods of self-care and develop a tool box of exercises for the everyday work with youth groups. We want to explore the nexus between outdoor education and mental health. During a prior seminar on non-violent communication and self-care a group started hiking every morning before breakfast and discovered hiking to be an important asset to a more theoretical approach to mental health. We want to explore the possibilities of outdoor education in strengthening resilience. In times of war and rearmament in Europe we believe that it is crucial to bring young people and youth workers from Central (Germany) and Eastern Europe (Poland, Latvia, Lithuania) together. We do not want to lose ties and we aim to keep up the dialogue and exchange about European values.
