Quality and innovation of youth workArtificial Intelligence (AI) and data usage

Objectives

Youth work is of crucial importance in supporting the personal development of young people, enhancing their participation in society, and enabling them to adapt to a changing world. Artificial Intelligence (AI) opens up new opportunities in this context, allowing youth workers to communicate more effectively with young people and to create inclusive learning environments. However, in order for these opportunities to be used properly, youth workers need to be equipped with solid, critical, and practice-oriented knowledge. The project “AI connects YOUth” has been designed to meet this need. Raising awareness of AI: Participants will gain an understanding of the opportunities, advantages, and risks of Artificial Intelligence, and they will see concrete examples of how AI can be applied in youth work. This awareness will make it easier for youth workers to shape their daily practices with a reflective and critical perspective. Ethical principles, data security, and the responsible use of technology when working with young people will be emphasized throughout this process. Training and capacity building: To strengthen participants’ knowledge and skills, practical workshops, training modules, and interactive learning sessions will be conducted. In this framework, participants will learn how to use AI tools, analyze data, and integrate these technologies meaningfully into youth work. In addition, case studies and group work will enable them to turn theoretical knowledge into practical competences. Introduction to innovative AI applications: Participants will be introduced to up-to-date and innovative AI tools that can be directly adapted to youth work. Their functions, ethical use, and practical benefits will be presented through experiential methods, enabling participants to gain applicable knowledge for their own organizations. This will include AI-powered chatbots for communication with young people, data analysis programs, and visualization tools. Developing AI-based solutions: Participants will be encouraged to use the knowledge and experience they gain during the training to develop their own creative and original solutions. This will generate innovative, technology-based approaches in youth work. The solutions will be presented at the end of the training, shared with other participants and project partners, and the best ideas will be supported in becoming applicable models. Increasing youth participation: Special attention will be given to the active involvement of disadvantaged young people. AI-based methods will make it easier for them to access youth work activities and to express themselves more effectively. In this way, youth work will become more inclusive. Participants will design concrete approaches to empower disadvantaged groups and test the applicability of these methods within their own communities. Cooperation and networking: A strong network will be built among the participants, fostering a culture of cooperation based on the exchange of knowledge and experience. This network will serve as a foundation for sustainable interaction and partnerships beyond the project’s lifetime. Online platforms and joint forums will be created to ensure continuous communication among participants. Strengthening the visibility of Erasmus+: Throughout the project, the opportunities offered by the Erasmus+ Programme will be actively promoted, and young people will be encouraged to benefit from them more effectively. This will increase Erasmus+’s reach and visibility. During the training and dissemination activities, the Erasmus+ logo, information materials, and good practice examples will be used to provide participants with direct experience of the programme. Through these objectives, our project will enable youth workers to adapt to the digital transformation, use AI-based innovative methods consciously and ethically, and carry out more inclusive, effective, and sustainable work with young people. Thus, the project will not only contribute to the individual development of the participants but will also create long-term impact in the field of youth work, strengthening quality standards at local, national, and European levels.
