Quality and innovation of youth workBridging intercultural, intergenerational and social divide

Objectives

With this project, we want to close a clear gap in youth work practice: there are very few structured tools that show how food can be used as a method for inclusion and intercultural learning. Together with our partners, we will design and develop the RIFT e-Toolkit – a practical and pedagogical resource for youth workers across Europe. The Toolkit will contain recipes, session plans, and step-by-step methods for using food in intercultural youth activities. It will be piloted in an international training course, tested in local follow-up workshops, and published online as an open-access resource for the wider youth sector. Our objectives are clear: • to help youth workers (18–30) gain competences to use food as a tool for intercultural dialogue and inclusion, with practical non-formal methods they can apply at home, • to develop and pilot the RIFT e-Toolkit as a structured and ready-to-use resource for youth work, • to strengthen empathy, facilitation skills, and intercultural competences among youth workers through mobility and reflection, • to create safe and inclusive activities where migrant and local youth can connect through food, both during the mobility and in national follow-up events, • to contribute to Erasmus+ priorities on inclusion, diversity, and digital transformation by combining cultural heritage with accessible, innovative, and transferable practices. In short, the project will equip youth workers with simple but powerful tools to turn everyday practices—like cooking and eating together—into meaningful opportunities for dialogue, recognition, and community building. By combining cultural heritage with the digital habits of today’s youth (e.g. social media campaign, e-Toolkit), it will create spaces where differences become strengths and diversity becomes a shared experience.
