The project “Strengthening Democracy through Participation” aims to empower young people to actively engage in democratic processes, thereby preventing extremist ideologies and creating their own space for participation. Project days at schools strengthen knowledge, attitudes, and skills related to participation and democracy. Young people learn to articulate their interests, argue their case, and help shape decisions. In subsequent participation meetings, they take responsibility themselves by developing and preparing a youth participation event. They are supported in this by trained team members, VILLA as the coordinating body, and participation experts such as "Omas gegen Rechts" (Grandmothers Against the Right). The event, organized by young people, opens up direct spaces for dialogue with decision-makers. In this way, the project strengthens political skills, trust in democratic mechanisms, and promotes sustainable civil society engagement.
