With the project “History in the making: Young perspectives on democracy” we want to empower young people to explore the history of democracy from their own perspective, reflect critically on it, and actively shape it. The aim is to strengthen their democratic awareness and encourage them to become co-creators of education. By researching local places of remembrance and their connection to European democracy movements, young people learn that democracy thrives on active participation – both then and now. The project promotes historical, media, and social skills, strengthens self-efficacy and social engagement, and contributes to the youth-oriented development of democratic remembrance culture. It highlights that young people themselves are actors in democratic history—in the past, present, and future.
