Young people face major challenges such as climate change, digitalization, labor market transitions, and social inequality. Their participation is crucial to shaping solutions for the future and ensuring decisions remain representative and sustainable. With this project, we aim to strengthen youth involvement in the Nordic countries through activities increasing the youth involvement strengthens democracy by including more voices and perspectives in decision-making. It promotes social inclusion, equality, and innovation, while helping young people develop leadership and civic skills. Cross border engagement builds networks and cooperation between countries, reinforcing a shared Nordic and European identity. Through two activities we want to give young people the opportunity to develop skills in Nordic culture and language as well as in security and civil preparedness, all of which are essential for building a more unified region facing future challenges. The participant group brings together young people with varying levels of experience: some who are new to Nordic youth exchanges and eager to learn and build their skills around the chosen topics, and others who already bring clear ideas and vision to the table. From a youth work practice perspective, the projects objectives include: • Enhancing intercultural competence through non-formal, youth to youth, learning, enabling participants to understand, appreciate, and engage with Nordic cultures and languages. • Fostering active citizenship, by involving youth in democracy, security, and civil preparedness activities, helping them to contribute positively to their local and national communities. • Empowering youth by giving them ability to shape the project and its outcomes, thereby building their confidence, leadership, and teamwork skills. As well as giving them knowledge on how to deepen their learning, interest and methods to make an impact. • Strengthening social cohesion through building networks and relationships among Nordic young people and nurturing a shared identity. • Applying practical youth work methods, such as workshops, peer learning, cultural exchanges, and dialogue, which embody participatory and non-formal learning approaches. As an output from the activities , concrete recommendations for decision-makers (both at local and national levels) will be developed. Concerning: • How to include youth in security and civil preparedness. • How to strengthen Nordic culture and language from the youth perspective. • Other themes or outcomes that will be developed by the participants. These recommendations will be based on the project’s themes and will be published on the partner organisations’ websites and be given to decision-makers such as the Nordic Council. The project’s objectives align with the core values of the Nordic Association, especially those focusing on increasing civil society integration, cross-border youth exchange, mobility, and cultural & linguistic understanding in the Nordic region.
