The project’s purpose is to strengthen students at Prepatory Basic Education Centers (FGU) in their democratic self-confidence and support their voices in conversations about democracy and the EU. It gives FGU students the opportunity to understand, reflect on, and take a stance on the EU and Europe’s role in their everyday lives – and to gain the courage to be heard and take part in democracy. This happens through workshops at FGU schools, based on familiar methods and FGU’s didactic principles, where facilitators meet the young at eye level and create space for reflection, dialogue, and opinion-building. The aim is to raise individual understanding and confidence and, in the longer term, contribute to a broader debate where FGU students’ experiences and perspectives are included. The project also creates tools and knowledge that will live on, including a handbook and an experience report with methods and learnings for work with youth and democratic participation.
