The main objective of this project is to empower young people to take an active role in environmental sustainability by integrating upcycling, creative recycling, and youth work practices into their daily lives and communities. Through non-formal education methods, including hands-on workshops, outdoor learning, digital content creation, and intercultural exchange, we aim to enhance participants' awareness, knowledge, and practical skills in waste management and sustainable living. The project fosters creativity, innovation, and problem-solving skills by encouraging young people to view waste as a resource and explore how discarded materials can be repurposed into new, functional, or artistic products. By engaging in collaborative upcycling projects, participants will develop entrepreneurial skills, learning how sustainability can be transformed into economic opportunities through social enterprises, eco-friendly businesses, and community-driven initiatives. They will be encouraged to explore self-employment possibilities, turning their skills into income-generating opportunities, thus addressing youth unemployment while promoting environmental responsibility. The project also aims to equip youth workers and organizations with tools and methodologies to incorporate sustainability-focused youth work into their programs, strengthening their capacity to run effective environmental education initiatives. A key aspect of the project is its emphasis on intercultural learning and inclusion. By bringing together young people from Estonia, Portugal, Germany, Türkiye, and North Macedonia, the exchange fosters mutual understanding, respect, and cultural appreciation. Through teamwork, group discussions, and storytelling, participants will engage in dialogues on global sustainability challenges, learning from each other’s perspectives while breaking stereotypes and prejudices. This will lead to enhanced social cohesion and European identity, promoting solidarity and cooperation among youth from diverse backgrounds. Another crucial goal is to strengthen the link between youth work and environmental action, ensuring that sustainability becomes an integral part of Erasmus+ youth initiatives. By training young people in waste management, upcycling techniques, and community engagement, we aim to inspire them to implement local follow-up actions in their home countries, ensuring the project's long-term impact. The creation of a digital platform and interactive toolkit will allow participants and youth workers to continue sharing knowledge, replicating project activities, and engaging more young people in upcycling and environmental awareness campaigns. Finally, the project aspires to raise awareness about Erasmus+ opportunities, demonstrating how youth exchanges, training programs, and mobility projects can serve as powerful tools for personal and professional development. By integrating Erasmus+ values such as active citizenship, social inclusion, and lifelong learning, we seek to create a network of young sustainability ambassadors who will drive positive environmental change in their communities and beyond. Through this initiative, we contribute to the global movement toward a circular economy and zero waste society, reinforcing the role of youth work in fostering sustainable development and intercultural cooperation across Europe.
