Objectives

The youth exchange "Mycelium 2026 - Connected through roots" brings together 15-20 year old young people from Estonia, Greece and Poland in the Estonian countryside in August, who have a common focus on living in harmony with the heritage culture of various practices and nature. Through the activities, young people from rural areas contribute to personal development, the local community and the international dimension of their future, as pan-European contacts are created - mycelium. Participation in a youth exchange gives youngsters language practice, develops social and communicative skills, encourages them to be active thinkers and advocates. The stronger the roots and knowledge of traditional culture, the stronger the community. Strong communities create stronger regional regions, which create strong nation-states, which are the foundation of a multicultural and strong Europe. The name of the project summarizes the main idea of the youth exchange: mycelium is the formula for the successful functioning of most societies. If a young person is surrounded by trustworthy people and functioning systems, the so-called "mycelium", then it is safe to grow and develop. But the "mycelium" is even more supportive when a group of people who exist together are united not only by the environment but also by common traditions, knowledge, lifestyle, beliefs, language, heritage culture, and skills. We all have a lot to learn from different cultures, but the greater goal is also to take into account and respect differences. During the youth exchange, young people gain experience in how to be leaders themselves, be responsible, how to form teams of participants from different backgrounds, how each of us has our own strengths that can be used to work together.
