Project Objectives and Expected Achievements The primary aim of the project is to empower young people to take an active role in environmental protection while simultaneously developing essential personal, social, and professional competences. From the perspective of youth work practice, the project provides experiential learning opportunities that integrate hands-on activities, intercultural exchange, and structured reflection, enabling participants to grow personally, socially, and professionally while fostering active citizenship and community engagement. 1. Raising Environmental Awareness Participants will acquire in-depth knowledge about sustainability, waste management, pollution reduction, and biodiversity preservation. Engaging in practical activities such as beach cleanups, urban gardening, upcycling workshops, recycling initiatives, and visits to environmental education centers will allow participants to experience environmental challenges first-hand. Youth work principles will ensure that participants link these experiences to both local and European environmental priorities, understand the broader ecological impact of their actions, and develop practical skills to implement sustainable practices in their communities. 2. Promoting Active Citizenship and Social Responsibility The project encourages youth to become responsible, engaged citizens in their communities by participating in group projects, awareness campaigns, and co-designed activities. Through collaborative problem-solving, decision-making, and leadership exercises, participants will develop teamwork, communication, negotiation, and project management skills. Youth work methods such as participatory planning, mentoring, and reflective evaluation will guide participants in understanding their agency, fostering inclusion, empowering peers, and translating learning into concrete social actions. 3. Supporting Intercultural Learning and Cooperation By interacting with peers from multiple countries, participants will experience intercultural dialogue, collaboration, and exchange of perspectives. These interactions will enhance participants’ understanding of European diversity, tolerance, empathy, and cross-cultural communication skills. Youth work practices will ensure that intercultural learning is experiential and transferable, allowing participants to apply these competences in diverse social and professional contexts, strengthen European identity, and develop a mindset of cooperation and solidarity. 4. Developing Key Competences and Youth Skills The project will enhance a wide range of personal and professional competences including critical thinking, problem-solving, digital literacy, creativity, project planning, leadership, and environmental stewardship. Experiential learning, group mentorship, peer-to-peer learning, and structured reflective exercises will be embedded throughout activities to ensure that skills are not only acquired but meaningfully applied. Participants will be supported in identifying competences gained through Youthpass and other documentation tools, ensuring that learning is recognized and transferable to future educational, professional, and civic contexts. 5. Fostering Long-Term Engagement and Advocacy Participants will be encouraged to maintain engagement with environmental initiatives beyond the Youth Exchange. By creating action plans, organizing local awareness campaigns, participating in online networks, and collaborating with partner organizations, they will continue contributing to sustainable practices in their communities. This approach aligns with youth work principles by emphasizing ongoing personal development, community involvement, and long-term impact, ensuring that the project fosters sustainable behaviors and a culture of civic responsibility among young people. 6. Contributing to European Priorities The project supports Erasmus+ objectives including youth participation, social inclusion, intercultural dialogue, and environmental sustainability. Participants will gain awareness of European policies such as the EU Green Deal and learn how their local actions connect to broader societal goals. This connection enhances participants’ understanding of their role as European citizens and encourages responsible, informed engagement at local, national, and international levels. Expected Achievements Increased environmental awareness and adoption of eco-friendly practices among participants. Strengthened leadership, teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills through participatory youth work methods. Enhanced cross-cultural understanding, intercultural competence, and European identity. Implementation of local initiatives, awareness campaigns, and projects inspired by the Youth Exchange. Documentation and dissemination of learning outcomes, environmental actions, and creative outputs to inspire other youth groups and communities.
