Objectives

The Youth Exchange "Voices Beyond Borders: Rethinking Gender in a Diverse World" aims to foster the creation of inclusive and tolerant communities for young people from different cultural backgrounds. Our goal is to provide a safe and open environment for dialogue, where participants can freely express their views on gender and identity, while promoting coexistence and acceptance through intercultural understanding. We acknowledge the significant differences in how gender and gender roles are perceived in various cultural contexts, especially between Eastern and Western societies. Young people often lack opportunities to engage with perspectives outside their own communities. As a result, they remain confined within the social and cultural boundaries they were raised in, with limited space to question, explore, or voice alternative viewpoints. Through this project, participants will deepen their knowledge and strengthen their critical thinking on gender-related topics. Working in multicultural teams, they will exchange experiences and ideas, recognize and embrace diversity, and co-create pathways to challenge stereotypes and promote equality. As the project also focuses on expression through media and communication tools, participants will engage in practical workshops to develop skills in video editing, social media campaigning (TikTok, Instagram), creating visual messages, public speaking, and event organization. These tools will enable them to share their voices creatively and reach wider audiences with impactful messages. The exchange is fully aligned with EU values and policies, empowering young people to challenge gender stereotypes and promoting a more equal and inclusive society. The project will also use the hashtag #RethinkingGender as part of its presence in the EU-wide campaign against gender-based discrimination. Ultimately, this initiative promotes social transformation, digital literacy, and critical awareness—especially important in a time of value crises and misinformation. Special attention will be paid to combating the spread of false or misleading information regarding gender equality, whether intentional or not. Participants will learn how to distinguish facts from bias, develop their media awareness, and use their voices to support a fairer, more inclusive society.
