The Young Changemakers for Environmental Sustainability project aims to equip young people with the knowledge, skills and inspiration needed to take an active part in Environmental Responsibility. Through non-formal education, experiential learning and mutual exchange, the project seeks to raise awareness of climate action, inspire individual and collective responsibility, and provide practical tools for sustainability. The project also stimulates social inclusion, leadership skills and participation in active citizenship allowing young people to have a say in building a greener tomorrow. The principal aim of the project is to promote environmental awareness and sustainable behavior among young people. The newer generations are not exposed to simple, practical sustainability activities that would help them understand the concepts of sustainability and its practice on a daily basis. You will learn through eco-workshops, sustainability challenges, and community clean-up events, deepening your understanding of environmental issues and practical green skills that you can take back to your communities and implement into your daily life. One of the other main goals pf the project is to promote the youth on the environmental action and the decision-making. Lots of youth feel discouraged by climate and sustainability policies, a sense that they’re powerless to change things. Through this project, participants will learn how to be advocates for sustainability, support local action on the environment and engage in youth-led work. The participants will see directly and personally how collective action can create powerful, positive change through working with local organizations and engaging in community-based work. Essential competencies in the field of interest will also be developed for personal and professional growth. Sustainability is no longer just an environmental issue but a booming industry in its own right. Participants will be able to develop various skills, including teamwork, leadership, critical thinking, and digital communication through the interactive sessions and practical experiences, all of which are geared towards preparing them for their careers. In addition, the project will encourage young people to use digital tools for campaigning, in order to build their confidence in using social media and online platforms for the promotion of sustainability initiatives. A very important element of the project is to promote intercultural dialogue and European cooperation. But this global issue, to tackle the challenge of climate change, has no borders, therefore the youth must have the tools to collaborate to find answers. Participants will gain knowledge about how different countries approach sustainability through intercultural learning, teamwork, and knowledge exchange. It will enhance their European identity and sense of solidarity, encouraging them to seek other Erasmus+ opportunities and youth exchanges in the future. In planning its activities, the project also sets itself firmly on the ground of social inclusion and accessibility by ensuring that all young people have the ability to participate in the project fully, regardless of their education, experience or knowledge of sustainability. Youth work is key to breaking down barriers to participation within an inclusive learning environment. The project is designed to ensure that every participant feels respected and empowered to make a change. These project objectives aim to achieve long-term youth engagement with the project participants on applying new skills at local levels, influencing local authorities for environment policies, and utilising skills in the future under Erasmus+ and other youth programmes. At the conclusion of the exchange, participants will not only walk away with valuable knowledge and skills related to sustainability, but they will walk away empowered and confident in their ability to affect positive change in their communities and beyond.
