The project seeks to achieve a strong impact in the field of youth work by addressing pressing environmental issues while simultaneously fostering the personal and social development of young people. By implementing this Youth Exchange, we aim to create a space where young people can experience non-formal learning, intercultural dialogue, and active participation, with the ultimate goal of empowering them to become change-makers in their communities. From the perspective of youth work practice, the first objective is to increase environmental awareness among young people through interactive, experiential, and creative non-formal education methods. Environmental challenges are global, but youth work can make them tangible and accessible, translating abstract concepts such as climate change or sustainability into concrete actions in the daily lives of young people. By combining workshops, outdoor activities, and peer-to-peer learning, the project will allow participants to reflect on their ecological footprint and explore sustainable alternatives. A second objective is to develop key competences for active citizenship. In youth work, competences are not developed through formal instruction but through participation, reflection, and responsibility. The project therefore seeks to strengthen transversal skills such as teamwork, communication, leadership, problem-solving, and intercultural understanding. These competences will not only help participants become more environmentally responsible but also more engaged citizens, capable of contributing to their communities at local, national, and European level. The third objective is to promote inclusion and equal opportunities. Youth work practice is based on the principle that all young people, regardless of background, should have access to meaningful learning experiences. This project will focus particularly on the inclusion of participants facing geographical, economic, or social barriers. By providing them with reinforced support, mentoring, and safe spaces, the project will demonstrate how youth work can reduce inequalities, empower marginalized groups, and promote social cohesion. Another objective is to foster intercultural dialogue and European identity. Youth exchanges provide a unique opportunity for young people from different cultural and national contexts to meet, live, and work together. From the youth work perspective, this is one of the most powerful tools to combat stereotypes, prejudices, and discrimination. By creating mixed intercultural groups and encouraging participants to learn from each other, the project will strengthen respect for diversity, solidarity, and a sense of belonging to the European family. A further objective is to equip participants with tools for reflection and recognition of their learning. Through daily reflection groups, creative documentation, and the use of Youthpass, participants will become aware of what they are learning and how these competences can be transferred into future opportunities. Youth work practice emphasizes learning by doing and reflecting on that experience, and this project will integrate this principle systematically. Finally, the project aims to strengthen the capacity of youth organizations in Greece, Italy, Bulgaria, and Romania to work on sustainability and inclusion. By cooperating in planning, implementing, and following up the exchange, the organizations will share practices, develop innovative methodologies, and build long-term partnerships. From the youth work perspective, this contributes to the professionalization of youth workers, the exchange of know-how, and the creation of a stronger European youth work community. By achieving these objectives, the project will demonstrate the added value of youth work in addressing global challenges, empowering young people, and creating long-lasting social impact.
