With the implementation of the project Dancing the Heritage of Europe, we aim to empower young people through cultural expression and intercultural learning. Our main objective is to create a meaningful learning experience where youth from different countries can connect with their own cultural heritage while discovering and appreciating the traditions of others. We believe that traditional dance and music are powerful tools in youth work that can promote inclusion, well-being, and dialogue without the need for spoken language. Through this project, we want to give young people the opportunity to express themselves, build confidence, and develop key social and intercultural competences. By actively participating in workshops, group activities, and a final public performance, they will strengthen their communication, teamwork, and creativity in a non-formal and supportive learning environment. We also want to show that cultural heritage is not something distant or old-fashioned, but something alive that young people can carry forward with pride and innovation. From a youth work perspective, the project promotes active participation, mutual respect, and emotional well-being. It offers a safe and inclusive space for young people, especially those with fewer opportunities, to connect with others, discover new perspectives, and reflect on their own identity. The project will encourage them to take initiative, share responsibility, and contribute to the success of a shared international experience. Finally, we aim to strengthen the role of youth organisations in using culture and tradition as tools for education, empowerment, and social connection. By working together with experienced partners and involving the wider community, we hope to create long-lasting impact both for the participants and for the youth work field as a whole.
