Objectives

"Sometimes a song tells of silence, sometimes of rebellion, sometimes of hope." Today's youth face serious problems such as social isolation, exclusion, prejudice, inequality of opportunity and lack of belonging. Young people, especially in multicultural societies and in environments where social vulnerabilities are high, are labeled for their differences, exposed to social exclusion and unable to make their voices heard. This situation causes young people to be unable to express themselves, weaken their self-confidence, stay away from decision-making processes and not fully participate in social life. In this context, this youth exchange project we have designed aims to help young people express their feelings, embrace their cultural identity and see diversity as a richness by using music as a tool. The universal language of music is a powerful tool in breaking down prejudices, developing empathy, strengthening group dynamics and meeting in common feelings. The project will be hosted by Spain with the participation of 40 young people from Turkey, Hungary, Macedonia and Bulgaria. The majority of the participants are young people with fewer opportunities for social, economic or geographical reasons. Through non-formal education based sessions to be implemented during the project, young people will both express their own culture and interact with different cultures through music. Objectives of our project The main objective we want to achieve with this project is: to empower young people against social exclusion, prejudice and social conflicts through music, to encourage youth participation based on inclusive, peaceful and intercultural dialogue. Our detailed objectives are: 1. Raising awareness among young people about the causes and consequences of social exclusion It is aimed for young people to develop sensitivity towards exclusion and tolerance towards differences. 2. To use music as a means of empathy, expression and social bonding Through music workshops and co-productions, young people will express their feelings and opinions through song, rhythm and performance. 3. Creating space for young people to recognize their cultural identities and interact positively with different identities Cultural nights, musical narratives and storytelling activities during the project will serve this purpose. 4. Strengthening intercultural dialogue between young people from different countries In joint sessions and group work, young people will have the opportunity to get to know each other's musical motifs and cultural codes. 5. To reinforce self-confidence, social participation and sense of responsibility in young people During the project, young people will take on a facilitating role, organize musical performances and take active roles in the dissemination process. 6. Developing young people's coping with stress and expression skills by using the healing power of art Sessions where especially disadvantaged young people stand out with individual performance will serve this purpose. 7. Increasing the level of knowledge about Erasmus+ opportunities and enabling young people to generate new project ideas The "future project design" session at the end of the project will contribute to sustainability. The activities to be implemented in line with these objectives aim not only to provide young people with knowledge, but also to support their social, cultural and artistic development, to create impact in the field of youth work and to prepare the ground for new collaborations. The project will offer a youth experience where young people will raise their voices through music to raise social awareness, strengthen intercultural understanding and redefine social inclusion through the unifying power of art.
