In many contexts, young people do not receive adequate, reliable, and fact-based information about sexuality in their homes or schools. In the absence of comprehensive sex education, they often turn to unreliable sources, such as the internet, where myths, stereotypes, and misinformation abound. This educational gap not only perpetuates misconceptions about sexuality but also contributes to the rise of issues such as sexually transmitted infections (STIs), unplanned pregnancies, and sexual abuse among teenagers. The lack of proper knowledge about fundamental topics like contraception, consent, and responsibility makes it difficult for young people to make informed and healthy decisions about their sexuality and relationships. Additionally, many parents lack the resources, time, or knowledge to discuss these topics with their children, further exacerbating the problem. The aim of this project, “Love, Sex & Everything In-Between”, is to address these challenges through inclusive, evidence-based sexual education, grounded in human rights. This project brings together youth organizations from Spain, Lithuania, Turkey, Georgia, Lebanon, Serbia, and Czechia, countries that, despite their diverse cultural and social contexts, share the common problem of a lack of quality sex education and the taboos surrounding sexuality. Project Objectives: 1. Exchange knowledge and approaches on sex education between participating countries, exploring how sexuality and sexual education are managed in different contexts, and sharing best practices. 2. Raise awareness among youth about STIs, focusing on the importance of prevention, early detection, and adequate treatment, and providing young people with the tools they need to protect themselves. 3. Explore innovative methods to integrate sex education into school curricula and non-formal education programs, seeking practical and accessible approaches that can be implemented locally. 4. Promote an open and responsible dialogue about sexuality in society, challenging stigmas and encouraging the importance of communication on these topics at home, in schools, and within communities. 5. Debunk myths and taboos around human sexuality, promoting respect, equality, and inclusion, and helping young people understand sexuality from a healthy, non-prejudiced perspective. Project Vision: Through “Love, Sex & Everything In-Between,” we aim to strengthen the relationship between sex education and fundamental human rights, including the right to health, life, education, privacy, non-discrimination, and a life free from violence. The project will focus on empowering young people to make informed and responsible decisions about their wellbeing, relationships, and sexuality, contributing to a more inclusive and equitable society. Expected Impact: By providing a safe space for learning and reflection, the project will enable participants not only to share their experiences and learn from each other but also to develop the skills needed to address sensitive topics openly and respectfully. Through this exchange, we aim to empower young people to become agents of change in their communities, contributing to social change and raising awareness about the importance of sex education in their lives. This project aims not only to educate young people about sexual health and rights but also to create a movement of awareness that can continue developing beyond the youth exchange and generate lasting changes within communities.
