Objectives

The international initiative Take a Walk aims to address issues of marginalization, isolation, and social exclusion faced by our target groups through the practice of youth work grounded in outdoor education methodologies. These approaches emphasize collaborative play, creativity, and cooperation in natural environments, with the overarching goal of promoting social inclusion and empowerment. By engaging young people in playful collaboration within diverse intercultural teams, the project creates opportunities to overcome barriers, strengthen resilience, and develop meaningful connections. Our target groups often experience anxiety, lack of belonging, and reduced opportunities, particularly young people in NEET situations, those from migrant backgrounds, or those living in depopulated rural areas. The project responds to these challenges with clear youth-work objectives: Strengthen cooperation and exchange among partner organizations over an 8-month period, creating a sustainable platform for sharing youth work tools, best practices, and innovative non-formal education methodologies. Implement a youth exchange as the main activity, using outdoor education to foster social inclusion, teamwork, and intercultural dialogue. Activities such as role play and the Depopulation and Creativity workshop will develop empathy, critical thinking, and civic awareness, linking personal learning to broader European issues like rural depopulation and exclusion. Equip young participants with key competences in communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and creativity, while fostering a sense of group belonging and resilience. This will enhance their capacity to engage actively in their communities and open new pathways for participation in youth initiatives. Ensure sustainability through follow-up and dissemination, involving participants in photo exhibitions, performances, and online campaigns co-created with ARAM and local communities, so that results remain visible and accessible beyond the project. Generate lasting impact on both individuals and organizations, with participants emerging as active multipliers of social inclusion and intercultural understanding, while partner organizations strengthen their capacity to deliver inclusive youth work in rural and intercultural contexts. Through these objectives, Take a Walk not only aims to inspire change but also to create a ripple effect of solidarity, awareness, and creativity, equipping young people with the competences and confidence to thrive individually and collectively in diverse European societies. Young people from Cirat and Ayódar are already involved in ARAM’s community activities and will continue collaborating in dissemination events and in the Erasmus+ Garden after the exchange. This ensures a strong connection between the participants and the hosting organization, before, during and after the project.
