The main aim of this Youth Exchange is to provide young people with an enriching experience where they can explore, reflect and learn about the complex topic of migration in a safe, intercultural and supportive environment. Through this project, we want to create a learning space that not only enhances their knowledge and understanding of migration but also strengthens their competences as active young citizens capable of promoting inclusion, tolerance and solidarity in their local and international contexts. From the perspective of youth work practice, this project is designed to combine experiential learning, intercultural encounters and non-formal education methods in order to achieve both educational and personal development goals for the participants. Our objectives are: - To foster awareness and understanding of migration: Participants will deepen their knowledge of migration by analysing its causes and consequences at local, national and European levels. TThey will have the chance to reflect on how migration processes affect the lives of people and communities, discuss stereotypes and prejudices, and gain insights into the opportunities and challenges that migrants face. This will help them develop a more nuanced and empathetic perspective. - To promote inclusion and diversity: A key aim of the project is to bring together young people with different backgrounds – including those with a migrant background and those without – to learn from each other and break down barriers. By doing so, we will foster inclusion and equality, ensuring that all voices are valued and represented throughout the process. - To empower young people through non-formal education: The exchange will create opportunities for participants to take an active role in their learning process. Through workshops, role-plays, cultural activities, outdoor experiences and group reflections, they will develop transversal competences such as teamwork, problem-solving, communication and leadership. These skills are essential for their future participation in society and in other youth initiatives. - To strengthen intercultural competences and mutual understanding: Living and working together for several days will give participants a strong intercultural experience. They will learn to appreciate cultural diversity through direct encounters, while also reflecting on their own identity and cultural frameworks. Multiple activities will allow them to present their own languages, traditions and cultural elements, thus promoting both self-expression and intercultural dialogue. - To encourage linguistic and personal growth: English will be used as the working language of the exchange, creating a space for real linguistic immersion. Participants will strengthen their ability to communicate in English, while also learning basic words from other participating languages. At the same time, they will improve their ability to present themselves and their culture in their mother tongue. These elements will increase their confidence, motivation and willingness to engage in future international activities. - To motivate young people with fewer opportunities: A considerable part of the group will consist of young people with fewer opportunities (economic, social, cultural or related to migrant background). For them, this project is an invaluable opportunity to access an international experience, expand their horizons and strengthen their self-confidence. By actively involving them, we want to show that they can play a leading role in such initiatives. - To contribute to youth work practices and continuity: The project is also intended as a tool to strengthen youth work practices at local and international level. By working closely with our partner organisations, we will consolidate methods of cooperation, mentoring and group facilitation. The experience and learning generated will not only benefit the participants but also the wider youth groups that our organisations work with, ensuring sustainability beyond the duration of the exchange. In summary, the objectives of this Youth Exchange are not only focused on understanding migration but also on empowering young people to become active, open-minded and engaged citizens.
